88-90 King Street Renovation Project

As the population of Telford is growing there is also an increase in the number of muslim people coming to the mosque who belong to a wide and different range of backgrounds. There is a steady demand of educational and other Islamic requirements by the local community. The current facilities at Tan Bank, as you see in the photos below, are insufficient for this growing need and the population increase

Bearing this is mind we have acquired a larger property at King Street, shown in the photos below, which comprises of several buildings. With the help of local community which contributed a donation of £300,000, these buildings were acquired to develop into the larger vision and strategy of SIF. 

We presently conduct evening madrassa classes for Islamic education, for the community’s children at, the Telford Islamic Academy. We plan to develop this, Inshallah into a bigger and better centre for Islamic education. We have also, Alhamdulillah, been successful in getting the planning permission from The Telford and Wrekin Council to convert these buildings into

•           Islamic Education Facilities
•           Women's Praying Facilities
•           Wudu Facilities
•           Imams Flats
•           2 Retail Units
•           Community Facilities (Hall & Kitchen)
•           Funeral Facilities

We have a significant amount of space to provide services such as community hall, children’s indoor play area, with facilities for women as well, which we are hoping to set up inshallah after the redevelopment, including funeral services.

The Planning permission was granted on 17/05/2007 and the SIF has to start this immensely huge construction, conversion and extension project. The SIF requests you to donate generously towards the renovation of the 88-90 King Street project. We require an estimated amount of £1.2 million to complete the entire project.

The SIF proposes to complete this project in a phased manner. In the first phase SIF intends to develop mosque and its related facilities. The second phase will be followed by developing education facilities for children attending the madrassa as well as for men and women of the community. In the final phase flats for Imams, funeral services etc. will be completed.
